Davis Langdon wins industry accolade

April, 2009

Leading global construction consultant Davis Langdon is delighted to announce that it has won the prestigious Building magazine’s “Consultant or Surveyor of the Year” award for the fourth year in a row at the industry ‘Oscars’ ceremony held last Thursday night (2 April 2009) at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Davis Langdon was judged on issues such as its approach to sustainability, innovations and corporate responsibility as well its work on outstanding projects such as Corpus Christi college library in Cambridge, Heathrow Terminal 3 and the Liverpool One regeneration scheme.

The judges remarked on Davis Langdon’s fourth consecutive win that, “It’s amazingly hard to be that consistent.”

Judges explained the decision for picking Davis Langdon for this prestigious award, as being:

“..thanks to its performance in just about any area you care to name. A fine financial performance has been underpinned by the launch of a new grand strategy called One Firm One Future, which has reorganised the firm around particular market sectors.”

They added, “In as much as firms have personalities, Davis Langdon has a pleasant one.”

Senior Partner, Rob Smith, comments:

“It is a great honour to receive this award for the fourth consecutive year in recognition of the hard work our people have put into our projects and internal strategies.  In the current economic conditions we continue to focus on delivering exemplar service to our clients and it is hugely encouraging to know that our efforts have not gone unnoticed by the judges.”

The Building Awards are the most prestigious construction industry event of the year and are considered the industry benchmark for recognising leading edge, innovative and best practice organisations operating within the construction industry.
The firm is also proud to have been involved with all three projects which won awards last night.  Namely Liverpool One (Building’s Project of the Year), Westminster Academy (Public Project of the Year) and Adelaide Wharf  (Housing Project of the Year).

Earlier in 2009, Davis Langdon was named “Top International Construction Consultant” in World Architecture’s annual poll for the 16th year and ranked in the Sunday Times ‘Best 100 Companies to Work For’, for the fifth year.

The firm has also received a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Chartered Institute of Building’s Innovation & Research Awards 2008/09 and won “Best Graduate Recruitment Website” in the prestigious Onrec.com 2009 awards last week.  In addition, the firm has been shortlisted in the “Best Tax Team in a Boutique Firm” category in this year’s LexisNexis Taxation Awards and also for “In-house Marketing Team” Category in the Property Marketing Awards 2009.
