With climate change being heavily debated, there are now significant EU and central government legislation which directly encourages the investment in low carbon energy generation infrastructure. The challenge
The UK aims to meet its targets by generating more than 30% of our electricity from renewables, up from about 5.5% in 2009. In addition to the renewable obligations, the UK also faces increasing pressure from the EU landfill directive where by 2020 the biodegradable waste landfilled must be reduced to 35% of that produced in 1995.

The main types of technologies that will be employed include:
